Hi guys!

I'm currently in the market for a new camera, as mine recently died, and thought maybe someone on here could help me out. I'm looking for something that'll take decent photos at shows, but isn't too expensive or so big that I'll have it confiscated! tongue.gif

I was looking at the Fujifilm f40fd, and actually ordered one over the net the other day at a really good price, but got an email today saying that it was damaged in transit on the way to their warehouse, and they don't know when the next shipment is coming in! blink.gif Rather inconvenient, I know.

So I was wondering if you guys could recommend any camera you think suits my needs, and if possible provide example shots from concerts so I can see what each camera can do!

Your help will be greatly appreciated, and I'll send you all virtual cookies and cupcakes and lemon slice!! (And maybe even real cookies and cupcakes and lemon slice if I see you in person!! happy.gif )

That Fuji is a nice looking digi cam Mandatora. I have been using an Olympus u795SW since the new year, it's 7.1megapixel, waterproof, crush proof, small, stylish and very functional. I did buy it for snowboarding and surfing etc, but it has made for a great general purpose camera. Did heaps of research before buying it. Both myself and a friend bought one each and are very happy. Even though you would hardley ever think that it being water proof or crush and drop is an everyday feature, it has been of great comfort to know, as these small shiney cameras easily fall out of your hand and bounce off things..... Outside that, it is also very easy to use, has some great preset settings for close ups, text, landscaped, night, natural light etc.

I actually had it at the KMH Apollo Bay acoustic set on Sunday.

In saying that, if it is your express interest to take shots at KMH concerts etc, i would maybe suggest a 10x optical zoom as most of these units just come with a 3x optical zoom. But if you're in early and up the front, then it shouldn't matter at all wink.gif

This is my Olympus: http://www.olympus.com.au/component/option...tail/Itemid,69/

If you are heading down to any of the Melbourne shows, i'll bring it along and you are quite welcome to use it wink.gif

Hi Mandatora

Can you tell us what your budget is so I can see what cameras are available in your price range? I personally use a digital SLR. Its not as expensive as it used to be and the size of new entry level SLRs are alot smaller than they used to be. Do you want a small point and shoot or do you want something larger? If you want to use the camera at gigs I would recommend you look at cameras with a "stabiliser" feature built in (eg. Canon has "IS" and Nikon has "VR"). Also I would look for cameras with high ISO speeds and a manual mode. When I get home tonight I'll write more about it and recommend a few cameras to you! smile.gif

I Have a Fujifilm finepix f470

I have broken it at almost every concert i have been too :| and its been repared and i used it for a while and its died again so i dont even know what to do with it.. but any way, when i took it to see kate the non flash pics sucked.. the flash pics turned out but the flash is so strong that too much back ground shows up and looks bad.. SO, i flicked it onto video and filmed heaps of the show. and then took some snapshots from the video and you can see those in my photo album Kate @ The Globe Oct 07 I recon they came out really well. i have the larger photos on my computrt and they look heaps better.
But yea, i just found it really weird that the snaps from video cme out wayy better then actual photos hah.

Any way, i dont know a good camera for concerts, but hey theres a story! tongue.gif

Thanks for all your suggestions guys! My price range at the moment is around $200...but if I needed to I could probably save up a bit more if I needed to. I'm eventually planning on getting an SLR...a canon EOS 400D...But as it's about $1000, it'll have to wait a little while.
