The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to confirm that platinum selling songstress Colbie Caillat will perform on Australian shores for the first time ever this October. The ‘Bubbly’ Colbie will perform in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Kate Miller-Heidke will be Colbie’s special guest at all shows.
Colbie is quickly becoming the superstar of 2008. Coming from a fine musical pedigree (her father co-produced Fleetwood Mac’s legendary Rumours), it was Colbie’s MySpace page that helped shoot her to prominence. After showcasing an array of tracks, word began to spread, and she became the #1 unsigned artist on MySpace for four successive months.
She was quickly signed by a label and went to work on her debut album Coco (out now through Universal). The album introduced Colbie to the world via the infectious Bubbly which hit #1 around the world – including Australia where the single has been certified platinum.
Currently on tour with John Mayer across America, you can expect Colbie Caillat to be in fine form this October.
Kate Miller-Heidke is no stranger to Australian audiences. The release of her debut album Little Eve spawned hit singles Words and Space They Cannot Touch and garnered four ARIA award nominations. Kate was invited to tour alongside both Evermore and Cyndi Lauper on national tours, and was even awarded the honour of performing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun alongside Cyndi.
Tickets will go on sale at 9am Friday 15 August. Pre-sale tickets will be available from noon AEST Monday 11 August until noon AEST Tuesday 12 August (or until pre-sale allocation is exhausted).

Hats off to Frontier Touring. They've given Kate a few good support slots over the last couple of years. The Fray, Evermore and now Colbie Caillat.
When I saw that Colbie was coming to Adelaide, I was stoked enough.. but then when I found out that it was at The Gov... and with KATE. Wow, it'll be such a good night.
Adelaide tickets are $50. I assume all other shows are in that ballpark.

She will be very happy(although the wait may be too much for her.)

Mmm, don't know if I'll go to this one. I'm not really a big fan of Colbie and I don't really want to spend $50 on a support set. I'll think about it though.

I've heard Kate's Brisbane set will only be 30 minutes, like most Tivoli Supports.
I'll wait till the FULL KM-H show in Caloundra 2 weeks later.

All right I have purchased 2 tix for the Sydney Forum show. Trace has talked me into saving the cash from airfares, tix etc for the Brisbane shows til KMH announces the full set of Brisbane shows and we will see if we can get to see as many as we can.
For those who are wondering where the forum is(apart from where we are now!!) The forum is in the entertainment precinct at Moore Park, not far from The Hordern. Kate is no stranger to the forum as she played there with Evermore for the Playhouse shows( and most of the show can be downloaded as the Playhouse EP).
It is a pretty good venue with a number of different configurations.

Long time no see guys n' gals,
Hope you all are doing well, I know its been a long time. As for the show I may give this one a miss, 30 mins of Kate may just tease me for the whole night, and plus the only song I know from Colbie is that "bubbly" song so I ain't goin nuts. As for me, please come say hi if ever you're on Rundle Street all you Adelaideans, I went back to work for Scoozi as one of the chefs there so don't be shy. Littleearthquakes you should go, maybe that pimp lookin guy with the massive bling might show up again ta ask ya out aaaaaayt?
Nobu
PS- Anyone know when Cookie Bakers album comes out? Would like to listen to more of her stuff, I liked what I was hearing last time KMH was at the gov. cept for the back part of the crowd, they all shoulda been silenced.

I'm very seriously considering going along to The Prince on Sunday night for Kate's support set & staying on for Colbie Caillat (sounds like ballet according to her myspace page-lol!).Tix are $49.50 plus bf which is a lot for a 30 minute acoustic set but Colbie doesn't sound too bad (and she looks okay too-lol!) & the other support band Lovers Electric sound okay as well.If anything it'll be a handy dummy run for the real thing next month.

Thanks for the tip Steve, however,if it's crap i'm lumbered anyway as i have a ticket & i'm staying overnight in 'the big smoke'

But it shouldn't be any worse than the Australian Idol Top Nine singing ABBA songs on Sunday night. At least with not being home & taping it i can fast forward through the horror stretches & 'those two dickheads' talking between songs!!!!!

So good to get a "new injection" of Kate live!
Set was great, loved the new songs, loved the new shoes although I am concerned about Kate sustaining spinal damage or a broken ankle!! They are hot pink platform heels and are gorgeous, the colourful dress was very pretty too. Kate was wearing her hair down, and looked quite different last night. Very relaxed and refreshed (must have been that trip to Noumea) and break from touring.
First time seeing Can't Shake It and I like you better when you're not around live. Great songs live - lots of fun. Toxic went down really well, as always.
I noticed during Space Keir did not do his usual gap before he starts back on the guitar - he obviously knew the audience wasn't up to that and would not wait!
Colbie - well I must admit I was bored for the first half of the set and in the beginning her vocals were not loud enough and I could not hear her over the band. (I will give her points for a cute band though, 5 guys and at least a couple of those were easy on the eye)!!
I personally would not put Kate on as my support act (no offence Kate) but it is hard not to compare the main act to Kate and think hmmmmmm Kate is better!
The second half of Colbie's set was better she covered a Bob Marley song (not sure of its name, Steve may know?, a Jackson Five song "I want you back" and Killing me Softly. She also did Bubbly which went down very well. I was hoping she would do "Lucky" the song she does with Jason Mraz but it was not to be. In some songs her voice sounded really good, when she wasn't being drowned out by the band. I may have enjoyed her more if I hadn't just seen Kate. She was lovely but some of the songs were a bit boring for me.
Steve W
Oct 3 2008, 09:17 AM
The Marley song is Good Lovin(sometimes Good Good Lovin).
I must agree with Fiona, The sound guy should have upped the volume pretty well straight away as it was clear that the vocals were just way too low in the mix. Added to this the band appeared to be in competition with Colbie as to who could make the biggest impression. I think I would have preferred to hear her sing with just herself on guitar(although I am not that confident in her playing) or perhaps with just a guitar player.
I must admit that I really like the song Bubbly, however apart from a Hawaiian themed song, I found most of the rest of her songs pleasant but cant see myself rushing out to buy any of them. One song in particular Capri, was just a piece of junk with no redeeming features.
John, at least if the songs are a little boring, she is alright to look at so your money will not be wasted.
I am not sure what happened to the other support that was supposed to play, but I am not complaining as Kate was only supposed to play for 30 min and ended up playing around 45 min.
Thanks to the staff at the Forum who looked after me and my crutches!
Forgot to add that the best part was getting the new single 3 days early!!!!!

Now that I got a clear head I can write properly.
I going to this gig was already a colbie fan. Got the album over a yr ago. And yes maybe her songs are a bit snooze worthy .. But I like the way she writes. And I like her co writer too . hehe.
Deep down I was hoping she would bring some friends (I was hoping jason .. but knew that would never happen!) But over all her band..woah.
It wasn't the most lively of shows . and I don't think I could go to many of her gigs as they would probably be the same.. but I'd love to see her perform at the beach or a park.
Over all it was a pleasant gig. The thing I liked most about her performance is that she seemed so in awe and seemed to really appreciate all these people listening to her and was really sincere about it.
I do agree with steve about the capri comment.. I prefer my version better.. "tracey tracey.. "
John

Thanks for the reviews guys & gals.It seems it might be better if Lovers Electric don't show up if Kate is gonna play longer.
So Fiona thinks Colbie's band is cute & Steve reckons Colbie is cute.Hmmmm.
I once took binoculars to an ABBA gig
As i typed before i have my ticket,i'm staying overnight so i'll be there whatever comes or goes-unless some inconsiderate &*^%# dies in the meantime!!! (Just kidding)
