So I was just watching the video of Kate's performance on Sunrise and there were a lot of close ups of her fingers on the keys. From what I gather, the keys are her preferred instrument (besides her voice) but the technique would have made my old piano teacher sentence me to log my practising of scales and arpeggios for the week while balancing an eraser on the back of my hands! Also, I recently watched a video of Kate on GNW, playing Big Yellow Taxi, accompanying herself on the guitar (and doing a great job all up!).

So... I guess in essence, I was just wondering, besides singing, what her musical training is like in other instruments.

Anyone got any clues?

You're right - I prefer to describe my piano playing as idiosyncratic (read: adequate).

My guitar playing is pretty crap too.
